Redefining Public Safety​

We need to redefine what public safety means.

Community safety is investing in people, in our basic needs and in our physical and mental health. For too long the County has used punitive methods while cutting services for our communities. 

The County must invest in the resources that help our communities thrive. 

How is the County of San Diego spending your money?

If we combine the Sheriff’s department, District Attorney, Probation, and Public Defender, 86% of the money in the “public safety group” go to the criminal injustice system or policing and incarceration.
